What is Shipping Protection?

Shipping Protection is an optional delivery protection service offered during checkout to help protect your order during transit.

Depending on the protection provider, coverage may include:

  • Lost packages
  • Shipping damage
  • Delivery delays
  • Theft after delivery

This protection service is managed by a third-party provider.


Is Shipping Protection Required?

No — Shipping Protection is completely optional.

You can choose whether or not to add protection coverage during checkout.

If you do not wish to purchase Shipping Protection, simply turn off the option before completing your order.


What’s Covered?


Coverage Scope Scenario Claim Time Limits
Loss Lost during transit All issues must be reported within 90 days of the order date
Partially lost during transit
Porch piracy incident
Damage during transit When the buyer receives an item with obvious breakage, cracks, bending (if the item is not bendable), crushing, etc., rendering it unusable
Shipping Disruptions Caused by Strikes or Riots Strikes or riots encountered during transportation
Misdelivery by the Carrier Logistics provider delivery error (excluding errors caused by the consumer)

What’s Not Covered

Shipping Protection typically does not cover:

  • Incorrect or insufficient address provided by the consumer
  • Unfulfilled orders where logistics status shows "pre-shipment," "label created," or "shipment information received"
  • Goods detained or confiscated by relevant law enforcement or government authorities
  • Unclaimed shipments or consumer refusal (except for damaged goods)
  • Non-conforming items (e.g., wrong product, color, size, or model received)
  • Pre-existing damage before shipment (e.g., rust, oxidation without visible water stains, or inherent product defects)

Coverage exclusions may vary depending on the protection provider.


How to File a Claim

After purchasing Shipping Protection services, consumers can file claims for lost or damaged packages via the Xcotton Claims Center. There are two ways to log into the Claims Center as follows:

  • Visit: Xcotton Claims Center, enter Email and Shipping Protection ID.
  • Email Confirmation: After purchase Shipping Protection Services, you will receive an email titled "Xcotton Shipping Protection Placed Successfully ", click the highlighted link in the email to access the Claims Center.
